Terms of Usage

Welcome to Board Game Sidekick! These Terms of Usage ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Board Game Sidekick website and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to comply with and be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

2. User Accounts

To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Use of the Service

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation.
  • Engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use or enjoyment of the Service.
  • Impersonate or attempt to impersonate Board Game Sidekick, a Board Game Sidekick employee, another user, or any other person or entity.
  • Use any robot, spider, or other automatic device, process, or means to access the Service for any purpose, including monitoring or copying any of the material on the Service.

4. User Content

The Service may allow you to post, submit, or transmit content, such as game reviews, scores, and collection data ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant Board Game Sidekick a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and display your User Content in connection with the Service.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding User Content), features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Board Game Sidekick and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

6. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and bar access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, under our sole discretion, for any reason whatsoever and without limitation, including but not limited to a breach of the Terms.

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Board Game Sidekick, nor its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

10. Establishment and Location Information

10.1 Nature of Information: BGSidekick provides a directory of establishments (board game cafes, shops, and event venues) for user convenience. The information displayed — including names, addresses, professional contacts, and hours — is collected from publicly accessible sources, licensed databases, or provided directly by owners.

10.2 Disclaimer: While we strive to keep information updated, BGSidekick does not guarantee the full accuracy or availability of third-party services. The inclusion of an establishment in the application does not imply endorsement, partnership, or sponsorship, except where explicitly stated.

10.3 Rights of Owners (Right to Rectification and Deletion): In accordance with GDPR and applicable laws, we recognize the rights of establishment owners to:

  • Rectify: Request correction of outdated or incorrect data.
  • Delete: Request removal of their establishment from our directory.
  • Claim: Claim the establishment profile for direct management of information.

To exercise any of these rights, the owner or legal representative should contact us at support@bgsidekick.com. We will process all validation and change requests within a maximum of 5-10 business days.

11. Strike & Moderation System

11.1 Reporting Content

Any user may report an Establishment or an Event. An optional description may be added (max 500 characters).

Valid reasons for reporting include:

Cooldown rule: You cannot report the same entity more than once within a 24-hour window.

Daily limit: Each user is limited to a maximum of 10 reports per day.

11.2 Strikes

Strikes are issued to the owner of an establishment or event when an admin takes a corrective action on their content. The following admin actions trigger a strike:

The affected user is notified via push notification on every strike, showing their current count (e.g. 1/3, 2/3).

Strikes accumulate permanently; there is currently no expiry or reset mechanism in place.

11.3 Account Suspension

Upon reaching 3 strikes, the account is permanently suspended with no expiry date. Only one suspension record is created per user.

The user receives a push notification upon suspension informing them to contact support.

To have a suspended account reinstated, the user must contact support directly at support@bgsidekick.com.
